Naples Part 2

After here we weaved our way back down the mountains until we reached Amalfi.  A hive of activity, so much activity that I would say one the busiest places we have been to.  We walked our way up the 200 stairs that lead to the Cathedral and entered for a quick look. Back out into the square we walked up and down a couple of small cobbled lane ways lined with shops selling clothes, fruit, cheeses, wines, shoes, handbags you name it.... Time was up soon enough and we were wandered back down to the beach to wait for Paolo to pick us up.

By now the traffic in Amalfi was horrendous and it took a while for poor Paolo to get back to us.  No sooner had he picked us and we were now sitting in the traffic too.  Heading back to Positano was both beautiful and hair raising at the same time.... Every turn gave us something beautiful to look at and every bus heading towards us had us leaning to one side hoping that it would make a difference so he could pass us without scraping..... Every time we approached one of these situations Paolo would press his magic button that would fold in his side mirrors and call out “Mamma Mia.... Shut your eye’s” and we would pass unscathed....Panel Beating must be big business on the Amalfi Coast.

Once in Positano we started our winding climb further up the mountain to reach La Tagliata a restaurant highly recommended on the Cruise Critic ports of call forum.  This is a family run restaurant perched high up the mountain with sweeping views of Positano.  No sooner had our bottoms hit the seats and out came plates of Brucshetta, mozzarella, prosuttio, eggplant, spinach and whatever else was fresh out of the surrounding garden. Then came plates of pasta, ravioli, cannelloni, spaghetti all washed down with their own labelled red and white wine.  After thinking you couldn’t possibly fit another thing in our came a plate of chocolate desserts, grapes and a shot of Limoncello.

With tummies full of good food and good wine we waddled our way back to the van as I am sure it was a much tighter fit than before.  We now headed down toward Sorrento still following the beautiful coastline.  Having been to Sorrento before we headed straight over a little narrow pedestrian lane we found last time.  With what seems so common in every village or town these little streets are lined with little shops selling everything you can imagine.

Another wonderful day in paradise and another deck 11 sail away party.
